The "moon fries" are really good too as are the donuts! Others with us had the classic and the fried chicken and loved it. We loved the quinoa scramble but didn't realize it came with a biscuit and order two extras. A biscuit is a must have, but make sure to ask which items come with a biscuit. They have a "jam bar" that has so many creative jams on it you will have to try a few! They have quite a few options with meat but as a pescatarian we found quite a few things. They also have outside seating in the back. This is to help out with everyone having somewhere to sit once they order. You are not allowed to sit at tables unless you are a customer and have made your order (have a table number they give you after you order). One thing to note which affects the line and the table situations. We went around 10am this time on a Friday and the line was out the door. Expect a line out the door at this place often. I don't bake biscuits, so I do without until I visit my favorite mother-in-law.We first visited here in March 2017, we came in like 30 minutes before closing that time and there really was no line. A few, like my wife's mother and late grandmother, make wonderful biscuits that folks eat until they are all gone. Some folks think frozen biscuits are good (wrong!), mainly because they haven't learned to make good biscuits or don't want to go to the trouble. A lot of folks can't make good biscuits, including some in my family. I may have higher biscuit expectations than most folks. If you're a Biscuit Head fan, I'm really glad you like it and are keeping a locally owned restaurant in business. But, how can red eye gravy have gluten? It's supposed to be just the country ham fat and scrapings from the skillet that are deglazed with coffee, all of which are gluten-free. Add $4 more if you want gravy! Yep, $7 for a biscuit and gravy! And the only gluten-free gravy was some weird sweet potato concoction (thankfully, they offered her a sample to taste before ordering, because we'd really hate to pay $4 for gravy she don't like). And, Biscuit Head biscuits are expensive: $3 for just a plain biscuit ($4 for a gluten-free one). But, a good biscuit is light and flaky and tastes really good. So, if you like that sort of thing, I'm sure you'll like it. But, it can certainly hold a lot of whatever you want to put in it, like butter, jam, honey or molasses. It's certainly not a good Southern biscuit, so I can't understand all the folks claiming these are the best they've ever had. The crusty edge along one side was harder than the plastic knife could handle. The taste was good, but this thing was big, like about 3x3 inches, and thick and heavy and had a mealy texture. My regular biscuit from Biscuit Head wasn't much better, in my opinion. Unfortunately, she's never yet been able to make a good gluten-free biscuit, and never found a one anywhere, so I guess they just don't exist. My wife is a good cook and makes decent regular biscuits, but she can't eat them.

So, I'll give Biscuit Head credit for at least offering gluten-free choices, but it's too bad it wasn't good. Oh well, it certainly wasn't the worst gluten-free biscuit we've tried, but it wasn't good either.

Biscuit Head owners, have you eaten one of them? It was heavy, dense and didn't taste very good. Well, the $4 gluten-free biscuit they sold to us was, I hate to say, disgusting, and just as bad as the ones we've tried from various recipes. Once our order was placed, it was delivered quickly. I will rarely stand in line that long for anything, but did this time because she really wanted the elusive good gluten-free biscuit. Biscuit Head employees were great and tried to help her pick gluten-free options. First, it's apparent Biscuit Head has good following in Asheville, because the line stretches outside and you might have to wait in line for at lease 15 minutes to order. Well, she's gonna have to keep looking, because Biscuit Head couldn't deliver. My wife and I were visiting Asheville and went for breakfast because they advertise gluten-free options, and that Southern girl was hoping to find a good gluten-free biscuit.
